Making Money With Songwriting

How Songwriters Are Paid

The music entertainment world, with major epicenters like Los Angeles, Nashville, New York City, or Atlanta stands or falls on the strength of a tune/song. These precious gems are not "sold" to the artists that record them. Contracts are drawn up with specific details concerning a big word called “royalties.” Royalties (not talking about Prince Charles) are paid when artists like sells cd’s, dvd’s, tapes, etc…

Two Basic Ways Songwriters Are Paid. 1) Mechanical Royalties - When records are sold. 2) Performance Royalties - When your songs are played on radio, TV and other public arenas like restaurants, and outdoor settings.

Speaking of outdoor settings COOLIDGE PARK in Chattanooga, Tn on the Tennessee River is awesome. Now that's a great place to visit and spend some vacation or leisure time. Fly into Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport and enjoy a dinner at Smokey Bones or The Big River...OR ride your Harley Davidson or BMW to CLAYS PARK ROCK N RESORT. This is a 3-day Festival on July 18-20 in Canal Fulton, Ohio. 40 bands from around the nation will be rockin' for 3 days.

Sorry, I got excited and got off track. Keep writing and pitching your songs...Nobody knows about what you got until you SHOW them.
